University of Naples "Federico II"

Founded on 5th of June, 1224 by the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Sicily Federico II of Swabia, the University of Naples Federico II is the main Neapolitan academy. Noted for being the oldest state-funded university, it is believed to be the oldest secular state university in the world.
